Originally from Houston, Dr. Khalfani Walker came to Washington, DC to attend Howard University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Passionate about helping others, Dr. Walker then went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. From there, he pursued an advanced education general practice residency at Harlem Hospital Centre.

Dr. Vincent Smith grew up in the Washington, DC area, the oldest of three siblings. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Oakwood University, Dr. Smith attended the Howard University College of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 2002. Completing his residency at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in Bronx, NY, Dr. Smith served as chief resident and was the attending dentist there for six years.

Returning to Washington to be closer to his family was a priority for Dr. Smith so he returned home in 2008. Now serving his community as a dentist in Takoma Park and Wheaton, Dr. Smith is dedicated to giving you the options you want and need – from teeth whitening to dentures and dental implants – or even emergency dentistry, Dr. Smith is here for your family’s smiles.

Dr. Jana McCall is a native of Decatur, GA. Dr. McCall completed her undergraduate education at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from Spelman College in Atlanta, she continued her education at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. While at the University of Michigan, Dr. McCall was recognized by the faculty for excellence in clinical periodontics and patient care and received numerous awards. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Dr. McCall was accepted to an extensive 3-year specialty program in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. McCall earned a certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science in Craniofacial Biology.

Dr. McCall is proud to be recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. This status is only granted to periodontists who have completed significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty. Dr. McCall provides a wide range of periodontal treatments for periodontal disease, dental implant placement, and cosmetic periodontal procedures.
Dr. McCall’s patients and colleagues find her to be a gentle, easy-going person which translates well with patient care. Dr. McCall currently resides in Maryland with her husband and two daughters.
Meet Dr. Latoya Callahan, Orthodontist in Wheaton
Education
Dr. Latoya Callahan, a Georgia native, grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State University. She went on to attend Howard University College of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. She completed two years of a General Practice Residency (GPR) program at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center where she served as Chief Resident. After practicing general dentistry for a number of years, she decided to pursue a long-standing goal of a career in orthodontics. She completed a 3-year specialty residency program at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center where she earned a certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Practice Philosophy
Dr. Callahan recognizes the significant impact that orthodontic treatment can have on one’s self-esteem and confidence. The results can be positively transformative. She believes that it is key that the relationship between the patient, the orthodontist, and the rest of the team of dental professionals is a collaborative one, where the orthodontist carefully listens to the patient’s concerns and helps the patient to navigate treatment options to arrive at the optimal plan best suited to achieve their treatment goals. Dr. Callahan enjoys engaging patients with an excellent chair side manner during the treatment journey to obtain a beautiful smile. She employs conservative treatment techniques to deliver outstanding outcomes while maintaining oral health, which she believes above all is paramount.
Dr. Callahan lived and practiced in the New York metropolitan area for over 13 years before deciding to return to the area that she enjoyed so much while attending dental school in Washington DC. She currently resides in Maryland with her son.
